hall, where a veiled purple curtain sections off part of the
room, pulls back the ornate heavy material to reveal a
mass of machinery, complex electrical, mechanical .made

reel to reel tape recorders and loops of magnetic tape.
The monk stands before the machine silient and observant
listening deep inside the machines workings reaches out
to the control pannel covered with dials and push buttons;

makes a minute adjustment to the machine, tapping one of
the bullet chipped television sets with a small hammer;

and the voice continues from the loud-speakers set either
side of the monkish altar, the monks face dark and obscure
through the hood, the voice of the machine in sombre tone
echoing in the great hall;
